learning the ropes

Group meetings, never get much done.

Interfaces i get the feeling two maybe three of us will write all of these.

Oh well at least as QA manager i get to make sure the hand in is all in spec.

So today has been a bit strange , I woke up late with a stinking head . Blogged a bit , both entries full of typos . 

Then I went and fetched what must be the worlds smallest pay packet ever , 6quid . I think the last time i earned so little I was having to deliver newspapers , and at least then I had some perks … all the Wrigleys airwaves known to man . I mean they were meant to be handed out with paper but they lasted me most of year 7 . 

Then this afternoon I set about creating a new web page for my index.html on the uni network hopefully linking all my blogs , flickr account and tweets into one easy to manage site .. well that’s the plan I`ll see how it lasts .

Between student riots and wars over knowledge . 

isnt it strange how people linked by nothing more than a wanting for knowledge are fighting at the same time ? 

on one hand we have the students , protesting about fee increases , well done I say . Not necessarily to the cause but definitely to the standing up and being counted , its about time a government, in this country, got shown what happens when you anger the populous. The police didnt knwo how to handle it and once again used there stupid kettling technique in an attempt to subdue the crowds . I dont know who invented kettling but they were surely a fucking moron . What crreature when backed into a corner and threatened with violance backs down and becomes subdued ??? humans certainly dont and the police began to feel this on thursday . People say its a small minority that ruined the student protests i say its a small minority that made the country realise how barbaric the “upholders” of our laws really are . WE ELECT TO BE GOVERNED . not to be bullied . 

And then of course there is wikileaks , how can a website that merely tells the truth about what governments say about each other be branded a terrorist organuisation ??? The retaliation to this by the people of “anonymous” has been incredible . One member of anopnymous used this qoute from fight club . 

”Look, the people you are after are the people you depend on. We cook your meals, we haul your trash, we connect your calls, we drive your ambulances. We guard you while you sleep. Do not… fuck with us. “ 

This pretty much sums it up for me . The ones governments fear shouldn’t be terrorists . It should be us , the people who gave them there power . They should answer to us , directly to us , and no one else . They need to be held accountable and i believe this is wikileaks mission . So people may finally understand the underhandedness in this world. Sure to live in ignorance would be bliss , but it hasn’t got us very far , has it ? 

both these groups have one thing in common .We are the future and we seek knowledge .  

So , yeah , I felt it was about time i created some sort of web presence . something that say`s , this is me , These are my thoughts . Plus i do love a good rant . 

This year i really feel like i’ve missed the point of university , I have spent way too long working and  partying forgetting the real reason I came here was to make a better me . 

I have decided im no longer going to do an industrial year , a decision i didnt come to lightly . I think its the right decision though i`ll be 30 when i finish my degree and i fear that id be better off finishing that year earlier with my masters than to extend my degree . Just for a years work experience in a position i have no interest in . 

I think that industrial years are a great idea for those feckless fresh out of school 18 year olds with little to no life experience as i feel it gives them a chance to mature , to be surrounded by there peers and maybe just maybe realise that all there academic skills mean exactly fuck all in the “real world” .
